Using your list of 20 items (that you made while reading the first half of the story)…
o
Decide which ones are symbolic (and which are NOT).
o
Next, for each item you believe is symbolic, each of you write out a NEW CHART
that explains what each item symbolizes.
For example:
§
(pg. 338) “When Peter was ready to go to sleep,
the peacock spread his magnificent tail, enfolding the boy gently like a
closing go-to-sleep flower, burying him in the gloriously iridescent, rustling
vortex.”
·
On your chart, write:
o
If the peacock represents Doodle, then the
peacock’s magnificent tail (from Doodle’s made-up story) symbolizes how much Doodle loves his
older brother.
Next, create 4 lists – 40 reasons total:
·
List 10 events that happened in the story that
would help convince a jury that…
o
1. Doodle’s older brother is responsible
for the death of Doodle?
o
2. Doodle’s parents are responsible
for the death of Doodle?
o
3. Doodle’s older brother is NOT
responsible for the death of Doodle?
o
4. Doodle’s parents are NOT
responsible for the death of Doodle?
Staple everything
together or finish for homework.
