ENGLISH – 1st Trimester - Day 24

·         Take fill-in-the-blank Prefix test (11 prefixes from “30-15-10” list)

·         After completing your test, recall how many times you saw your “eye” in the last 24 hours?

o   What do you think is the “eye” in
§  “The Most Dangerous Game”
§  “The Interlopers”
·         Explain your answers for BOTH stories.
o   Follow up on Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart” – discuss “eyes”

·         Re-read the 2 opening paragraphs to “The Tell-Tale Heart” and then…
o   Follow up on “eye” – Write the opening 2 paragraphs of a POE-LIKE story that introduces the disagreeable characteristic that you have tracked/counted these past 24 hours…PLEASE NOTE: Poe does not use ANY violence when setting up his story. What does he do instead?
·         Using your textbooks, add to the bottom of your POE opening paragraphs, at least 5 possible test questions (and answers) from pages 276-285 (This is the best way to study for Monday’s test.) – TO BE COLLECTED TODAY
·         2012 – Homecoming Court Assembly – video coverage in CLASSROOM (shortened schedule)
 
Homework: 

Read and study opening introductory pages on Edgar Allan Poe (pgs. 276 – 285) – including “Letter to John Allan” and “Alone” for an open-notes test on Monday
