ENGLISH – 2nd trimester – Day 18

 

·         Collect homework: Act 1 packet (take-home test)

·         WARMUP: Using the lists on page 805 and definition on page 1245, list 3 sets of foils from Romeo & Juliet (not including the example on page 1245 J)

·         Before reading Act 2, we looked at famous 4 lines (pg. 846, lines 33-36) and attempted to paraphrase them at our tables;

·         Discussed the evil comma splice and how to eliminate it from sentences

PLAYWRITING – Day 18

 

MANTRA:

Drama thrives only when characters are

in crisis, in extremes, in trouble.

 

Today you will continue scripting your latest scenes. These scenes should be 5 – 10 pages in length.

REMEMBER: No matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them - in order that the reader may see what they are made of. 

After attendance, go to Lab 100…do not sit near a good friend. This is a writing session.
