ENGLISH - 1st trimester – Day 30

REMINDER: Study for Friday’s fill-in-the blank Prefix test #3 (the next 11 prefixes from “30-15-10” list) including the following prefixes from your sheet = # 23 – #33 (re – cred)
DIRECTIONS:

1.         Write a 3 or 4 -word sentence (doer-doing-done to) like:
“Bayle collects shells” or “Jon hit the ball.”

2.         LABEL the 3 parts: A, B, C
IMPORTANT: When reading A+B and asking “what” afterward, your C should be the answer…ex. Bayle collect what? Shells.

3.         RULE: You may not ADD an A or a B or a C.
4.         Next, expand your ¾-word sentence into a sentence of 15 words without losing the doer-doing-done to structure.

As an example, here is a 15-word expansion for “Jon hit the ball.”
In the middle of the sixth inning, Jon, the league leader, hit the curve ball.

1.when 2.who 3.which one 4.what kind 5.where 6.how 7.why
Now, expand your 15-word sentence into a sentence of 35 words without losing the A, B, C (doer-doing-done to) structure.

Next, using your 35-word sentence from yesterday, LABEL the chunks using the 7 labels from today’s notes.
ADD TO NOTES: Foreshadowing: planting clues about what will happen later in a story
