ENGLISH - 1st trimester – Day 43

  1. On page 6 of your Literary Terms packet, study the “Methods for arranging detail” section. (Chronological order, compare, contrast, spatial order, cause and effect, order of importance)
  2. Looked at 4 samples paragraphs and determined which method of arrangement was used in each and listed key words or phrases from each paragraph that justified the answer
  3. Number a paper 1 – 20 and complete the first 13 sentences on the board (there, their, they’re)
  4. Unscrambled Jurassic Park paragraph
  5. Practiced assembling a well-organized paragraph on the “Deep Sea” as an example of what to do tonight for homework
  6. Reviewed the well-organized paragraph on the “Deep Sea” as an example of what to do tonight for homework – What were the organizational “clues” that help us correctly assemble this paragraph from start to finish? Reviewed the key words and phrases that proved the method of arrangement used.
  7. No vocabulary test this week.
  8. Find and hang your “Cask of Amontillado” poster (if it is on the center table)
  9. Chose one of the following “tell” statements to EXPAND AND ORGANIZE into a TYPED 7-sentence “show” paragraph for Wednesday’s homework: It was a special pizza. She looked old. The quarterback had a great game. I loved it. I hated it. The group sounded great. We fastened our seat belts. It was a beautiful sunset. The fisherman did very well. It used to be a mining town.
ENGLISH homework:

Due Wednesday: Having chosen your poorly written “tell” statement (see above),
TYPE 2 copies of a well-organized, tripled-spaced “SHOW” paragraph and cut ONE of them apart into individual SENTENCES. Your other typed copy will serve as an answer key.

PLAYWRITING – Day 43

Took notes on Anton Pavlovich Chechov (1860 - 1904) - (in preparation for today’s reading and assignment): noted his 4 key plays: The Seagull, Three Sisters, Uncle Vanya, The Cherry Orchard

Began writing the action to action ending to “A Marriage Proposal” by Anton Chekhov

Go to LAB 100 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) – write ending of play – DAY 1
