ENGLISH – 3rd trimester – Day 49

The Odyssey has 5 key themes. Add them to your notes:

Loyalty, devotion, and fortitude (courage; strength of mind)
  1. The Greek ideal of strong mind and body
  2. Wandering hero who weeps for home and family
  3. Triumph of good over evil
  4. Obedience to the laws of the gods
Open books to page 1037. Review some of the questions from Friday (see 20 Questions activity – already collected)

We read 5 stories from The Odyssey on Friday. Each table will be assigned one of the 4 stories plus The Cyclops. On a dry-erase board, write your story at the top, then explain how each of the 5 themes are present in your story. Add your examples to the your boards.

Take notes on all 5 of the stories. (copy notes below if absent)
