ENGLISH - 1st trimester – Day 23

 

1.      Check classwork:

o   6 examples of irony from Tell-Tale Heart (or a PINK sheet )

2.      Using your Poe notes from yesterday, write down 7 questions that you think will be on tomorrow’s test.

o   (This is the best way to study.)

3.      REMINDER: 2 tests tomorrow…vocabulary and OPEN NOTES test on the life of Poe

4.      Review answers to vocabulary sheet

5.      Return homework

6.      Watched an Encore introduction to Poe and a “The Tell-Tale Heart” animation and film

7.      Having just watched “The Tell-Tale Heart,” I want the class to think about the “eye” in the story.

o   The killer in the story didn’t actually hate the man’s eye…but rather, the eye stood for something the man hates.

·         On a separate piece of paper:

o   Write down a guess for each of the following questions:

§  What might the eye represent to the killer?

 

§  What does the character do because of the eye?

 

§  What is the “eye” in your life…that when you see it, you have strong, negative feelings?

 


ENGLISH homework:

 

Study for Friday’s vocabulary test

 

ADD to your Edgar Allan Poe notes: (pgs. 276 – 285) including “Letter to John Allan” and “Alone” for an open-notes test on Friday
