ENGLISH - 1st trimester – Day 34

 

1.Using both copies of your PMR paragraphs (on the Android logo and the Super Soaker)…

a.       Read through them both…underline your best (most interesting, most compelling) sentence (or idea) on both copies

2.      Then, using that idea as a starting point, brainstorm and write for 5 minutes.

3.      Tonight, you will combine these 2 pieces of writing into a TYPED, revised draft.

 

Take out your list of (20 items)…

 

Open your books to page 333. Using the first 2 paragraphs, answer the 8 questions that follow:

 

Right there questions:

1.      Between what two seasons does this story begin?

2.      What is the oriole nest compared to?

Think and Search

3.      Explain what all the colors in this passage suggest?

4.      What is making the narrator remember Doodle?

Author and You

5.      This opening paragraph has a grim tone to it. How do authors create appropriate tones for horror stories?

6.      The oriole images in this passage are sad, depressing. How could the author have created a different emotion using the same bird images?

On My Own

7.      Think about a sad moment in your life. What symbols/images would you use to help convey the sadness of this moment?

8.      What is your opinion of death?

 

In order, list all the events that happened in the last half-hour of Doodle’s life (beginning on page 342 “As soon as I had finished eating…” until the end of the story)

 

STAPLE 3 parts together (20 symbols, 8 questions, list of last ½ hour)

PUT ON CENTER TABLE WHEN FINISHED
