PLAYWRITING – Day 48
·         Pickup a rubric and a clean sheet of paper from center table… 
·         Write your name, date, hour on the back of the rubric. 
PMR – “Jack White On His Own, Tells Other People’s Stories”
1.      SKIM article for 30-seconds:
a.       PREVIEW/SKIM
2.      As you read article, mark text with symbols (see list on monitor)
a.       MARK
3.      How is songwriting similar to playwriting? To whom specifically might this matter? Explain why. 5 sentence minimum
a.       Must include a quote from the article.
b.      Immediately following the quotes, tell how
4.      RESPOND – underline 2 quotes about the process of songwriting
a.       Ex. …Jack White’s solo album is “not just about him. It’s about characters.”
b.      When you include your quote in your paper, begin with the words…
                                                                          i.      According to a June 2012 NPR interview… Jack White’s solo album is “not just about him. It’s about characters.”
5.      Before turning your paragraph in:
a.       UNDERLINE your quotation beginning with the word “According”
b.      Number your sentences following the quote 1, 2
c.       Proofread your paragraph for spelling/capitalization/grammar errors.
d.      STAPLE together:

·         Using the setup of Harold Pinter’s Betrayal:
o   Robert and Jerry meet for lunch. Jerry has been cheating with Robert’s wife, Emma. Emma has recently confessed to her husband, Robert, that she has been cheating with Jerry. Jerry doesn’t know anything about Emma’s confession.
·         Write a scene between Robert and Jerry that is nothing but subtext.
